I got a new framework 16 diy maybe 2 months back. Put my own m.2s in it and 64gb of g.skill ram. I was kind of sad when I had a sticker for the ram but not the Ryzen 9 7000 series. I will probably get a sticker off of eBay. Anyway I think it would be very cool to have an option to get stickers for the CPU and GPU to show of the specs. With all the decorative stickers and patch that the computer comes with I was surprised when it didn’t come with the og little square sticky pieces of foil.
I wanted some stickers too, but Framework doesn’t seem to add any stickers for any of their models about the specs like Apple used to do when they were using Intel.
The main reason is likely because they build these laptops for upgradeability, and when you upgrade, the stickers on your laptop won’t match with the specs of your laptop anymore. If you want the stickers, you can purchase them from ebay, and if you want specifics, look for the ones with an orange rectangle which is the newer design signifying Zen 4.
I tend to always rip off the stickers on the laptops. Disturbs my sense of “zen” :}
Honestly, I always take those stickers off myself. If I did put something like that on it it’d probably be something like a Pentium III sticker just for funsies. I put other stickers all over everywhere else though, mostly furry stuff.
Personally, I like having the inclusion of the CPU stickers because I like the look of the metallic stickers and they also can show the laptop’s specs, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy them.
I don’t usually put any stickers on laptops as I prefer the default metallic aesthetic. Stickers can also be a pain to remove (experience from buying a laptop secondhand), and sometimes they permanently mark the metal underneath them (not sure if it’s cause the anodized finish is being taken off or it is leaving some sort of residue).
I don’t think I ever seen any of those that weren’t extremely misleading or ambiguous.
Weee we put a gt210 in the laptop so we can put a gforce sticker on there so it sells better XD. But I guess it works otherwise the manufacturers would not put that much effort into making intentionally misleading or confusing naming for stuff.
on my old gpu (the one that broke 3 weeks after getting the laptop) i taped an intel centrino sticker that fell off the thinkpad x200 i purchased for schoolwork while waiting for the framework laptop. didnt put it on the new gpu because it would be too many layers of tape, and the sticker started falling apart when i tried to detach it from the old tape.
