Now that you mention it, I don’t know why I haven’t gone looking for thermostats yet… I’m not sure that HestiaPi is exactly what I had in mind, but thanks for the link. I’ll read up on it at some point here.
I already commented here with this suggestion but as my phone gets older and struggles to keep up (no more software updates) the compatibility is dwindling and I really wish for a repairable (android) phone.
I know there is Fairphone, but given my satisfaction and trust in Framework to do the correct thing is way higher I would buy a Framework phone in a heartbeat.
A phone in partnership with GrapheneOS please!!!
I would absolutely love to replace my current phone with something that is outside the Google/Apple ecosystem, and from what I’ve seen, the folks at GrapheneOS currently provide the most robust offering.
I also second the dumb TV idea!
I would love to see a printer or a phone, to be honest. I heard Fairphone was considering coming to the USA recently, but a modular phone would be amazing.
A lapdock (i.e Nexdock, UPerfect etc) that works with;
- Framework keyboard layouts
- Expansion modules
A modular docking station that works with the expansion modules would be really cool
It’s available now if you didn’t see that.
Just providing another vouch for printers. It’s seriously incredible how garbage they are after having decades to improve. I swear I have to unpair, reboot 5 times, and pair again every single time I use one
Honestly I think making a base for a dock that accepts the framework modules would be great! Lots of people that want that customizable IO, but aren’t looking to change their laptops for a while.
A tablet of course.
I’m about to replace my tablet. Even though the Google Pixel Tablet looks nice and mainly because it’s bootloader is unlockable and being able to flash GrapheneOS. Though the repairability and the absence of an SD-card are big flaws.
An tablet that allows for dualbooting would be awesome.
An wireless game controller in xbox style would also be rather nice and cool to be able to customise and repair your gamepad.
Can you make an OS ???
Why tho?
Because: Mac , Windows , Ubuntu .
Added into A BALANCE = Good ???
Framework has stated clearly that they won’t be creating an OS or distro.
They are focused on hardware, not software.
When?
When?
I think this was also answered by @Matt_Hartley , during the recent linux live Q&A I would encourage you guys to watch if you still haven’t, it was a nice Q&A session, covering a wide range of linux topics. [Battery life test: 13th Gen Intel Core vs 12th Gen Intel Core | Framework]
Not a product, but a service. Once you get yourself situated, consider a Enterprise-level service to focus on businesses. Repairable laptops that an IT department can handle would be huge. Dell and HP, for example, have dedicated account managers that work with businesses (B2B) on their needs. SLA, repair/service contracts, etc. The real meat for us in the weeds was they were able to apply our custom drive image to the SSD before shipping it out to us or our remote worker DIRECTLY. They even worked with our Service Desk team that isn’t well-versed with WIndows Sysprep and unintended installations (which also includes injecting certs and joining our domain). It made deployment much quicker and easier, and has become a huge value-add to partnering up with a first party vendor (Dell and HP direct, not a 3rd party company).
