Why is the dGPU such a joke?

The hardware is very nice.
It’s heavy. Heavy is reliable; if it does not work I can always hit someone with it.

It does not work. I don’t know what is going on in the driver thread with you experimenters but I guess congratulations on trying to help us all try to establish a minimal working experience that is completely anecdotal attempting to inspire hope in that everyone else may one day have a a laptop that other non Framework laptop users get to enjoy on an hourly/dailyl/weekly/monthly basis.

I very much regret spending the extra money on this piece of hardware and I am openly steering anyone reading this away from buying the dGPU.
Framework doesn’t do drivers.
You get what you get and you don’t get upset.

Didn’t Mr. Patel say something about improving this aspect of the company? That was quite a while ago.

While I suspect this might be a troll post with use of “Patel”…the dgpu has always worked completely fine for me. The only thing I have issue with is the occasional crash when I disconnect my dock with 3 monitors…but it recovers almost immediately.

Maybe you are on Windows, in which case I would say it is probably up to AMD to fix those drivers.

“Does not work”

Working fine here.

Framework seems to have abandoned software development on the 16 all while insisting that things are “in the works”, however are refusing to patch critical bugs with the existing hardware. This experience is really putting me off Framework. The hardware might be nice, but if the software is abandoned with critical bugs unpatched, I might as well have not bothered.

Remind me what the name of the CEO of this company is? Using that name is trolling? ok. He explicitly promised to do better

Great

What is wrong with the AMD drivers? I am on the latest and everything I run is just fine. If you are concerned about stability run the Studio/Pro drivers.

In case you just want to vent: You’re welcome to do so! And it indeed sucks that it doesnt work for you!

Would you like any help with troubleshooting? If so, just ask

Maybe if you explained your actual issue rather than just ranting?

I prefer the AMD drivers rather than Framework and they seem to work fine for me in Windows.

Yea, seems like click-bate. My dgpu has been working great. Even using compatibility tools like Wine/Proton, it’s done fine. I play games. I use 3d cnc software with it. Works as expected.
