This time, the laptop boots, but the dGPU is not detected in lspci (linux) or device manager (windows). Not sure when it happened other than it was probably quite recently.
Ok, well I went into the firmware setup and disabled pcie dynamic link power management and re-enabled linux audio compatibility (forgot to do that after resetting the bios for support ages ago when dealing with a keyboard fault) and now it seems to be working? the sodding thing better not pull a stunt like that on me again when i want to go enjoy some vr
also ive had the fingerprint reader drop out occasionally a while back. weird that some peripherals now just randomly dont want to work periodically
really wishing i just got an egpu with a framework 13 (or a non-framework device) - i really want to like my fw16 but this is the most random crap ive ever had to deal with with a single computer. im almost certainly not going to be buying anything but spare parts and upgrades from framework in the future (and even that is in question with the whole omarchy thing)
