I recently received my framework laptop and started setting it up. I have built the computer and managed to install windows on my laptop. However, I did not successfully get the wifi drivers to install/work.
I have the software package on my flash drive, extracted into a folder labeled ESD-USB, I restarted my computer while repeatedly clicking F12, I managed to go to the boot manager screen. (See image) I select my usb drive my hitting enter. The computer reloads and I open to no further pop-ups or instructions. I look up wifi (because it is not in the bottom corner) and am unable to connect to any networks.
Please advise, I am unsure how to troubleshoot further.
Click the network icon (globe or signal bars) in the bottom-right corner of your taskbar, select the arrow next to the Wi-Fi symbol, and choose your network from the list. Click Connect, enter the Wi-Fi password, and press Next
The driver package will be a installer file that you run from within Windows. You don’t have to boot off the USB drive. Once in Windows, you just open the folder where the driver installer is located and run it.
Hopefully that makes sense. I’m not 100% sure what’s going on, but it sounds like that’s what you need to do, based on what you’ve said. If Windows is installed, you should be able to just let the computer boot normally (no need to use F12 to get to the boot menu), and then plug in the USB stick and run the install file for the driver package once Windows is booted up.
