Hey all,
I discovered the A+E wifi card slot works for SSDs. I purchased a Cervoz T425 128gb ssd to run as boot so I could use my 1360p based mainboard as a home server. The main purpose was to re-use the m.2 4.0x4 as an expansion slot for HDDs, SSDs whatever. However, I ended up getting a cheap used 2u server, so now I am using the 1360p mainboard as a desktop. The SSD works great, and I got a 1TB expansion card for main storage.
Unfortunately, shortly after I got it working, Cervoz discontinued the SSDs

That’s neat, it’s sad they’re no longer made.
I checked some web searches, and there’s adapters that will connect M.2 M-Key to the M.2 A+E-key of the wifi adapters. The A+E is only 2 PCIe lanes (even if it does have USB 2.0), so it might hurt speeds of the highest-end NVMe storage.
Good points. I don’t understand the worry of not hitting peak nvme ssd speeds. Sata ssds are 500mb/s and no one besmerches them.
If you don’t mind a more “jank” setup, you could get an E to M adapter along with an M.2 PCIe extension and just use a regular NVME drive. Given that A/E slots are normally PCIe 3x1, the extensions shouldn’t cause any problems; it’s generally PCIe 4 that starts having problems.
