Will the Framework Ryzen 7840HS option be available again soon?

I'm planning to purchase a Framework 16 with an AMD Ryzen 7840HS CPU in the near future. The device is currently unavailable in the webshop, as it appears to be sold out. Will this option be available again soon?

Hard for anyone to say for any of us here on the forum. Best I can answer is that framework did mention they would continue to manufacture the 7840 series even with gen2 framework being released, so it will continue to be here for a bit. But they would be haulting production of the 7940hs. You can check the forums where people are selling theirs and see if you can pick one up that way. Otherwise you will have to wait and see when it comes back available when they replace their stock.

An alternative, if you’re ok with it, is to buy second hand. I am sure that once the new Ryzen AI mainboards get shipped out to folks who ordered these newer boards, you will see a few 7X40 mainboards on the Framework marketplace.

I’m still on the fence whether to order the newer AI CPU mainboard, and if I do I will most likely sell my current 7840 one.

In Europe, the 7940DIY and some variants of the 7840 pre-built are listed as available. Seems to differ between regions.

Hi,

I’ve checked almost all countries in Europe, the US, Taiwan and Canada and FW16 7840HS DIY is always out of stock. This seems strange.

Is there a way to know from the Framework team if this conf is end of life or not? An older question for the FW13 has received their response.

P.S. The 7840HS boards alone are available on the market, and many other FW16 gen1 components seem available as well. What does this mean?

Best way to get an accurate response to this is to email framework support. While framework does have staff that are active on the forums, they cannot be expected to see every post and answer every question here. This community is largely positive and helpful, but only staff on the inventory/sales side are going to have these types of answers. As I mentioned before in this very thread:

Nirav himself said this in the most recent launch of the updates for the Framework 16. They were only looking at stopping production on the 7940hs for the time being.
