Workaround: Framework 13 `Refused to change power state from D0 to D3hot`

New Framework 13 owner and user here; longtime Fedora + Bazzite user.

After setting up my OS, I was poking around in the journal and saw the following message getting spammed every second:

kernel: xhci_hcd 0000:c3:00.0: Refused to change power state from D0 to D3hot

I stumbled upon this journal message in another post here ( Kernel panics on Fedora 42 - 6.17.7 - #4 by James_Bond ) and the analysis done there.

My setup was similar to what was described there: USB-C adapter in the top left slot, USB-A adapter in the bottom left slot.

When I swapped the USB-A adapter for another USB-C adapter, the journal message stopped appearing.

Just wanted to confirm the workaround for anyone else seeing the error.

I used to had my ports configured in way where both left and right top ports where USB-C and both left and right bottom ports were USB-A and it worked well. But after latest BIOS upgrade I have left ports both USB-C and right ports both USB-A and I don’t see this error. Whenever I change ports config I’m getting mentioned error.

I was wondering why the load on my system was > 1.6 permanently, even when the system was essentially idle.

After poking around for a bit, I also found the same error message. Switching the USB-A port from the left side with my USB-C port I had on the right, the warning disappears and the load reduces to a reasonable amount. Worth noting that this had a noticeable impact on the temperatures and battery as well.
