X11 started being unstable/freezes on AMD cpu (13")

I’ve had my framework laptop since January and it has been good to me for several months. Here are it’s specs:

  • Framework 13"
  • Ryzen 5 7640u
  • 16 Gb Ram DDR5 (1x16Gb)
  • 1Tb M.2. SSD (taken from my previous Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 7)
  • Gentoo Linux with a bin kernel

Here is the issue:

It’s begun about a month ago. 5 out of 6 times, When starting X11 (using startx), the entire display freezes and becomes unresponsive (forcing me to switch TTY and kill xinit). However, if x11 survives the first minute or so, it then appears to be perfectly stable. This issue does NOT occur on Wayland.

What I did try:

  • switching window manager (tried dwm, i3, and icewm)

Here are Xorg logs I though might be of use (especially the AMDGPU bits):

Please let me know if it is preferable to embed the log directly (it made me exceed the character limit when trying to add it).

Thanks!
