Technically, the mainboard IS under the midplate. But yes, I didn’t mean on the underside of the midplate. Apologies for the confusion.

Pulling back up the post about the keyboard flex fix, no these pads aren’t the proposed fix. If you look at the diagrams at the bottom of Destroya’s post, the black pads were already there, while the red rectangles are where they’re planning to put more pads.

Seventh update on Framework Laptop 16 shipment timing

The first Framework Laptop 16’s are now in customers’ hands, with more Batch 1 units in transit to those who have received shipment notices. Both our factory and our fulfillment warehouse are now on Lunar New Year holiday, so the next set of units will ship and production will resume on February 15th in Taiwan. That will include the remaining Batch 1 orders along with the first Batch 2 systems. We’ll remain in continuous production from there, with most of our total factory capacity allocated to…

That said, they’ve mentioned before that they didn’t find any flex before the reviews pointing it out (LTT, etc), so the tolerance between each individual midplate may vary a bit.

Perhaps I got lucky and got a model with less flex? Or maybe I’m just not noticing it? Either way, I love the Framework team’s attitude in handling feedback.
