16 Won't Power On. No Lights. No LED. Nothing

Hey guys,

I just got my new 16" DIY laptop. I’ve built it, following the guide but when it came time to power on, nothing happened. I get nothing from the LED, no light at all in the power button, no fan noise. All dead.

Based on what I’ve read here I tried reseating the RAM three times. Reseated the SSD. Tried to boot after removing the battery to see if that was the issue. No change at all.

I have tried booting from the battery, the power supply alone (no battery connected) and both connected. No lights still.

Anything else I should try?

Thanks a ton in advance for your help!

EDIT:
I have the power supply and battery that come with Framework.
The graphics module is installed. I have one 16GB RAM stick (also from framework) seated in the 0 position. And the 1TB SN850X SSD from Framework.

UPDATE:
I tried a handful of other things like testing each separate port with the power cable, each of my USB-C expansion cards. Finally I plugged in my phone charger just to see if I could get life and I did! I finally at least got a little red LED, which leads me to believe that I have a bad power supply. I’ll log a formal request for that now. Hope this is a tiny bit useful to someone else in troubleshooting.

FURTHER UPDATE:
After letting it charge for a moment with the phone charger I was able to boot up and go through a windows 11 installation. It still won’t accept my provided power supply to charge and also I don’t recieve any power when the midplate is attached for some reason. I was only able to charge it with the midplate removed (and only with my phone charger). I have reached out for official support, but if anybody knows the potential issue, I would appreciate some guidance.

Received my Framework 16 recently, and it is stone dead. No lights, no beeps, no spinning fans, nothing.

I used the supplied power supply on another laptop so I know its not the power supply. I’ve re-seated everything (memory, SSDs, battery) and tried the memory in both Slot 0 as well as slot 1.

I have a support email in but so far there has been no response. I must say that I’m very disappointed. I seemed to be well built, but a the end of the day I have a stone in my driveway that makes a better laptop at the moment.

I’d like to update my post. After I moved the USB expansion card to a slot closer to the back of the laptop, it now powers on and I got to the BIOS screen. I didn’t see that the USB-C expansion card needs to be in a particular slot to receive power, and there may be more going on. This may be a possible solution to anyone else with this issue.

Have a look at this article Expansion Card Slot functionality on Framework Laptop 16

It’s kinda funny, I picked one of the only two ports where it wasn’t going to work. What are the odds of that… >sigh< thx Alex, that explains everything.
