I suspect a Windows 11 driver update yesterday is impeding USB-C to Displayport communication. Prior to the update (which was automatic) there was no problem displaying on the external monitor. What happens now when I plug in the USB-C to Displayport cable, the laptop screen goes blank, the external monitor screen appears to activate momentarily, then goes back to sleep.
I see in Driver history the update “Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. - Display - 32.0.13062.11” was installed yesterday. To test this is the cause of the problem I would like to remove this driver. When I go to “Uninstall Updates” I don’t see this driver listed.
Any suggestions how to proceed? Is there a means to roll back to install the previous driver?
I downloaded but did not install whql-amd-software-adrenalin-edition-25.8.1-win10-win11-aug-rdna.exe, the package the Framework Team asks the community to test in the topic Requesting your help to test the AMD Public Graphics Driver on Framework Laptop 13. With 7-zip I drilled down to the Windows 11 Display Driver and examined its .inf file. The version to be installed by this package is DriverVer=07/24/2025, 32.0.21025.1024.
This is more recent than the version installed automatically by Windows Update. This driver possibly resolves the external monitor issue I’ve run into.
I don’t have the patience to understand how to selectively extract and install this driver. I await the approved driver bundle that the Framework Team will provide in the near future.
