my “D” key is broken, it had some spotty outages that got worse and now its no good. bc it was a gradual process I think it might have been dust and the membrane isn’t fully sealed. Ill try squirting in some iso but that my only fix
I have also been having trouble with my A key, after having my FW16 for about 1 year now. I am a very heavy user, I am on my laptop alot. At first I was getting double presses of A sometimes with a slight delay (e.g., when typing quickly “fast” might be “faast” or “fasat”) or it would miss the A. This was intermittent for a few months, but still usable (90% of my A presses were fine?), I just had to watch for typos.
Happened on both Mint and Windows. Just today it stopped registering at all unless I pressed on the far right of the cap. I took off the keyboard, reseated the ribbon cable, gave the contacts on the ribbon cable and pogo pins and keyboard module itself a little rub with my finger gently to clear any debris (none visible), removed the key cap and blew hard on the area underneath then replaced it, and it seems better now! While typing this whole thing there was no mis-registers. Although this issue is intermittent, so I’ll follow up if it comes back.

Update, the issue has returned. Will contact support for a replacement, or try to update my BIOS, but I’m pretty confident that wouldn’t fix it.
Did you get an update from support? I have the same issue with the ‘s’ key though its not reproduceable always.
No reply yet. I’m tentatively hopeful that they’ll do something for this. I did only comment and reach out slightly outside of my 1 year warranty window, but since it was just barely and I definitely started experiencing this within the first year (I didn’t comment or reach out because it was so intermittent and I wasn’t convinced it wasn’t a software issue on different OSs) I’m hoping they’ll take care of this. I’ll keep you updated when I hear.
My order date was August 26, 2024 (but obviously it arrived later than this), and I got the backlit, but non-RGB keyboard, with the super key (instead of Windows icon) for what that’s worth, but it sounds like this is a pretty broad/prevalent issue.
Final update. After updating Bios and doing other steps suggested by Framework over email, it’s still not fixed. They told me it was out of the warranty period, which is fair enough. I noticed looking in the image below the the black plastic circles in each cutout were missing from the bottom 2 (left and center) of these little circles in OP’s post, as well as store page they aren’t, so as a last ditch effort I tried gluing some little spacers in these spots in case that was the cause, and it still didn’t solve it, so I’ve now ordered a replacement gen 2 RGB keyboard module. Bummer, but at the end of the day it’s still good having a laptop where I have the ability to replace the keyboard easily. Hopefully the gen 2 is more durable.
