Kerboard keys suddenly stopped working: [`][1][2][3][4]

Hi there,

I turned on my laptop today and noticed that the following keys located next to each other stopped working on my keyboard:

[`][1][2][3][4]

All other keys are working fine.

What I have tried so far to no avail:

  • Boot another operating system
  • Check all the cables/connectors and re-plug them
  • Clean the keyboard and mainboard contacts
  • Move keyboard over to use other contacts

I cannot find any other thread describing something similar.

Does anyone have an idea if this is fixable?

Is there a way to do a firmware reset of the keyboard, re-flash the firmware or something similar?

As a temporary fix, using an external USB keyboard could make things easier while you troubleshoot

I dont know if this is fixable or not. I would suggest contacting support right away.

Thank you guys for the quick responses!

I am in contact with the amazing support team and will keep this thread updated.

Solution

I noticed the other day that the “broken” keys decrease my keyboard backlight.

The support referred me to this keyboard configuration page: https://keyboard.frame.work

(NOTE: use udev rules rules bottom of README: GitHub - FrameworkComputer/qmk_hid: Commandline tool for interacting with QMK devices over HID)

There I could see that those keys were, in fact, bound to “BL-”

I have no idea how this happened but I was able to manually bind the keys back to default using this utility.

Everything is back to normal again

Thank you to the amazing support team!
