Hello everyone,
I just purchased a 13" AMD laptop to build myself. I installed Windows 11 and adjusted a few settings, but I can’t adjust the screen brightness. It’s at maximum.
I go to System → Display and nothing. No Brightness tab. So I tried to enable Night Light, but it doesn’t work, even at 100% brightness.
What could be the problem?
Holding the function key and the brightness function keys don’t work?
sorry if that was tried, it just wasn’t mentioned.
Did you install the driver bundle?
Yes. I tested the brightness function. I see the icon and I move the setting, but nothing happens on the screen. It always flashes at maximum.
And I installed and updated the drivers and BIOS.
oh yes it’s in French don’t worry it’s normal
Hi @Moncuit_Alverick So when you go to Settings > System > Display > Brightness and Color, you don’t see the Brightness slider? Looking over the info you’ve provided.
In device manager, does anything show up odd under display adapters?
Are you connected to any external displays?
What are your power settings set to?
Is HDR turned on?
Have you rebooted since update?
Edit: Your second screen shot just loaded.
Edit 2: Added more to try
I have restarted the computer several times since the update.
The screen is not HDR compatible and the functions are disabled.
In the device manager, my only errors are the multimedia controller and the video controller, which are both in Code 28. I do not have a “graphics card” tab.
I have never connected an external display yet.
For the power setting, it is set to best on AC power and balanced on battery. The power saver is disabled and is programmed by default to activate at 30% battery.
I thought the problem could be with the installation of W11? Or a mounting problem?
I did a full reinstallation with all data deleted as explained on the Windows installation explanatory page but the problem is still there. I continued by redoing all the software updates on frame.work and on Windows Update but nothing solves the problem.
If you haven’t yet, I think you should open a support ticket.
After contacting Framework Support, they gave me a checklist and tests to try to resolve this brightness issue.
Installing AMD Adrenaline solved my problem. All I had to do was install it and restart my computer. No settings needed to be changed.
I’m super happy with it since I tried it.
Good to hear that it’s fixed. Strange that reinstalling the driver bundle didn’t fix it as it does contain an installation of AMD Adrenaline.
I wouldn’t be able to say. However, I did a fresh install with formatting to be sure and it didn’t do any better. It’s beyond my area of expertise.
