Working with a Windows 11 OS Framework Laptop 16 here and I’m a bit frustrated. I was using it all day today for some light gameplay but noticed Discord wasn’t opening. Figured a small restart later wouldn’t hurt anything, and after restarting there is simply no wifi whatsoever. It’s permanently on airplane mode as if I wasn’t just using wifi minutes ago for browsing. Tried restarting twice and then turning it off for about ten minutes. I haven’t opened up the internal parts since I put the computer together (Feb of this year) so I doubt anything is suddenly missing from the internals. The weird thing is that in the system settings, airplane mode is greyed out and set to OFF.
Help me be less insane because I got nothing.
That’s a bummer. Things to try:
- cold boot - turn it off and unplug it for several minutes - it’s not clear if you did that but it’s easy enough to try
- boot from a live usb like fedora to see if wifi shows up there. If it does then try re-installing the drivers for the wifi card in windows
- reset the bios to default
- reset the mainboard
- open up the machine and re-seat the wifi card
- replace the wifi card
Best of luck, hopefully it’s something simple, not a hardware failure.
Thanks! I did end up finding a solution. Just in case anyone else has the same issue I wrote it down!
- windows key + x
- open device manager and click network adapters
- right click and hit update driver software
- choose search automatically
- restart computer
