would also be nice to see prebuilt input covers with each different language as currently its only US English which is a bit annoying
Pretty sure the do, https://frame.work/ch/en/products/laptop13pro-input-cover-kit?v=FRANKK00AZ looks pretty non us english and prebuilt to me.
Bump. Would love a french canadian version of the pro orange and grey keyboard, but would also like to configure my own keyboard. I switch between US and french canadian layouts often throughout my day and I’ve never quite had the exact modifier keys in the exact spots and with the labels I expect.
yeah sorry, i should have said in silver too! But I imagine they might do those too at some point.
Or a keyboard with switchable keycaps.

I would LOVE to see the Grey/Black(/Orange) variants in other keyboard layouts aswell.
I have been waiting quite some time now and my next Laptop will be a Framework, however getting a little bit of color difference into your laptop is quite tricky besides changing the color of the bezel and maybe the expansion cards although they usually no longer fit well into the side of the laptop on every combination.
The general reason I suspect for not implementing these layout-color constellations is that the anticipated demand is too low. However, watching this thread and its 324 views it looks like there is interest. Additionally, these numbers are mostly deflated compared to the actual interest in the broader spectrum.
Most people just accept that a different keyboard color for their layout is unavailable and pick their layout with the standard color (Raw black layout, no different colors).
This would almost certainly be a significant ratio between the actual demand and the few hundres that managed to atleast search for this forum post (So for those at the time 324 people that viewed this post and made it as far as that).
My next point is the fact that the keyboard keycaps are probably no supply-chain issue.
If it is, I understand the fact that this is not being implemented. However, a reaction for this not being implemented would be helpful for the community so its no longer an unanswered question.
To get my point across:
The keycaps are already there for all these layouts in these combinations. The physical production exists. However the colors don’t (Or they are just not being bought by Framework or some other reason exists). I am in the strong beliefs that making keycaps of a different color won’t be an issue in production for Framework’s suppliers (Or the keyboard suppliers keycap supplier or however far we will have to go back in the supply chain).
I would just like those color-layout constellations to be available as most of us probably would love to see. The European market and generally all other layouts combined probably has a far greater adoption than a single layout combined.
The benefit per-layout I can’t tell.
I don’t know if its a constraint in the supply chain of Framework or somewhere upstream. These are just assumptions as a constraint doesn’t make sense for me personally - But we will have to see if Framework comments on whether its that or something else (entirely).
I hope that this comment keeps this post alive for a hopefully positive outcome in the (preferably near(er) future), and if negative, preferably a reason for why this is not being implemented.
The main reason is economics, each keyboard becomes another SKU that has to be stocked somewhere. When you have two different versions of the same keyboard that doubles the number of keyboards you need to stock, that ups the capital involved in stock on the shelf, and hence potentially dead stock later on when no-one wants the old version.
For most people, if they really want the fancy keyboard, then they can make do with US English, otherwise make do with the stock version.
But it would be really nice if FW came out with a kit of keycaps that you replace with no responsibilty on their part, containing just the orange and grey caps, just like they have a screw kit with a set of all the screws in a laptop. It doesn’t matter if the old keycap is broken getting it off, it is putting the new one on that is tricky.
I’d love to see a GER version of this Graphite, Gray, Orange keyboard as well.
Yes, it will be a new SKU and the price would be a little higher, but that could be fine, as it just meets the aesthetics for this Framework 13 Pro machine, where the bezel and the four modules could have different colours as well.

+1 for this keyboard in international versions, especially german.
I was about to overcome my reluctance over the price and buy a framework 13 pro, only to realize that I can’t have that black/grey keyboard in german. I’ve seen that keyboard on many review sites, not to mention a lot on the frame.work store page as well, and naturally assumed that my next laptop would look like that. Quite disappointing, feels like 1st class prices, 2nd class customer…
That makes the framework truly exceptional and distinctive! I would be delighted to acquire a Swiss-French version.
