Framework has the AMD RZ717 Wi-Fi 7 and it says that it works with the “Framework Laptop 13 with AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series processors and Framework Desktop with AMD Ryzen™ AI Max 300 Series processors” but doesn’t mention anything about the Framework 16 which makes me think that it doesnt work but I wanted to see if anyone else has tried it?
I can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work. In the past, Framework has been pretty slow at updating compatibility information for stuff in the store.
Mine comes in on Monday. I’ll let you know how it works!
Wanted to pop in real quick with an update: I plugged this bad boy in this morning.
I haven’t used it a bunch yet, but it worked right out the box. Its even working with this 5g network that seems to drop all the time.
Strangely enough it came with a thermal pad? I just slapped it on the top and called it good, not sure if that is necessary or not.
I can come back in a week or two and let you know any other things I have noticed.
Thanks!
Just installed a RZ717 MT7925 card in my FW16. Using Ubuntu 25.04 it partially works. Bluetooth works. It will connect to 5GHz channels just fine. It can see 6GHz channels in the SSID list but won’t connect. MLO works but it will only connect at the lower speed. Hopefully this is just a driver issue.
It might be the Kernel. I’m on the current kernel in Arch its running super well. I’m surprised how I haven’t had any issues… yet…
I’m having issues with connecting virtual machines to my network.
After another patch and restart the other day it just started working. I don’t know what changed, but it’s been working fine.
6.14.0-27-generic #27-Ubuntu
Any chance anybody tried Bluetooth LE Audio (do not confuse with Bluetooth LE) with AMD RZ717 on Laptop 16? People always say that this functionality only relies on Bluetooth hardware but AFAIK it does not and requires audio hardware support (e.g. hardware acceleration of LC3 codec on the audio hardware), but I may be wrong about that. And of course it requires drivers and software support which is ascent for Linux at the moment (again, correct me if I am wrong) but present on Windows (I have personally seen those Windows laptops, all of them worked with Intel AX210/AX211).
