Audio sounds muffled on Fedora linux

Compared to other devices the audio I get from my new framework laptop sounds quiet unclear/muffled. This is negligible for most high quality audio and music but voices are definitely more difficult to understand. Comparison video: Framework muffled audio comparison - YouTube

My setup:

  • 12th Gen DIY Edition
  • Fedora 37 beta

I would like to know how the audio sounds on windows or some other linux distro and if you have experienced this issue on fedora as well.

I am now using a modified version of this EasyEffects preset (ee-framework-presets/gracefu.json at main · ceiphr/ee-framework-presets · GitHub) which sounds a lot better then stock.

Here are some easyeffects DSP chains i created to play with foobar2000 - the Unitpulse2K, UnitpulseDirac, MetalEQ are not mine but some old foo_convolver impulses posted on HydrogenAudio Forums i had downloaded and have had for over 15 years now.

The original *.wav IR files are in 44.1kHz, I used ffmpeg to upscale them to 48kHz for pipewire/easyeffects.
These files are available here: Sjeng - chess, audio and misc. software

WINE/foobar2000 sounds and works awesome in my Arch Linux, Debian, OpenSuse Tumbleweed on Framework Laptop 13 AMD.

Good luck.
