Battery limit does not work

Hello,

I usually dock my laptop to my monitor and don’t want it to charge to 100% all the time, especially given the 61Wh battery. Therefore, I set the battery charge limit to 80%, which would be fine for me. However, the laptop just charges beyond that and doesn’t care about the limit.

I have Windows 11 installed and updated to the latest version, and my BIOS is also up to date.

My laptop is the FW 13 with the new AI 7 350 chip, and sadly its battery health is down to 93% after just 157 cycles.

Setting the charging limit seemed very straightforward, but maybe I made a mistake. I have also taken a photo of my BIOS settings.

Thank you very much for your help.

I have seen this happen before though this was with the 11th gen board.

It may be a bug in the current BIOS firmware. There is a GitHub account where a ticket can be started if someone else has not already posted the same issue.

To try and get it to remember correctly:

Go into the BIOS and change it to 90%, save and reboot. Let it go into Windows for a few minutes.

Reboot again and change it to say 75%, save and reboot again going into windows. Unplug the charger if it is still already and let it get below 70%. Then plug the charger back in and see if it stops at 75 like it should.

If not then something is not setting correctly in the firmware to save the max charge level and a main board reset might clear this. Though it would be wise to contact support to see what their take and steps are. I am just another user like you on the forum.

Let us know how it turns out.

Thank you — that solved the problem! I’m not going to open a ticket now, but it does seem a bit buggy.
