Sadly I bent the lid and cracked the screen. Now it is hard to use. I seen I can get a new screen, how do I get a new lid? or do people just bend them back?
It happens, and thankfully this is a Framework Laptop to be repaired.
Yes, the display and the top cover will have everything you need included. The other parts will come from your existing machine (cam module, bezel, display cable, hinges). The included screw driver is the only tool needed. Be careful not to overtighten the screws or they might strip. There are seveal YouTube videos of people replacing parts on their machines too in addition to the replacement guides I suggest viewing before ordering the parts just to be certain you are getting what you need.
The NEW display is a matte finish, and higher resolution, so it might be a nice upgrade visually. I purchased a Factory Seconds with the B-Stock (aka the polished screen) and have a Framework with the original matte screen and it is nicer to look at personally.
If you are the kind of person that likes to have some spare parts just in case, consider ordering the screw kits when ordering a new screen and top cover. They are only a few dollars and more than once people have either lost or broken a screw and wish they had replacements after the fact!
I ordered a screen and the new lid ‘milled from an aluminium block’.
I realised I could bend the old lid back, but then I have a lid (‘top cover’) which I cannot assure is flat enough not to break the new screen. And even if it is flat enough, it is still not very stiff. (I don’t think I did much to bend it).
