Brand-New Laptop 12 Display Issue

I’m not even sure why I’m posting here. It’s ridiculous how messed up this display is out of the box. I’ve included a .gif. Tried all the obvious stuff. all the firmware is up-to-date on supported OS. Even tried alternate OS. squares show up every where. submitted a refund request, to be honest. I want to love this CPU, but it’s a mess.

That is garbage, as in there is clutter in the line. I would check the connection of the cables to your display. There was another user here who needed to reinsert their cable and that fixed things. Otherwise the display has a hardware defect.

That’s either a defect CPU/iGPU or a bad cable connection or possibly (but unlikely) a screen issue. Definitely get this refunded or replaced by contacting support. Mine doesn’t do that.

I just wanted to be super clear that this problem is not a general problem with all Framework 12 laptops, so getting a replacement part/laptop would likely make a lot more sense than a refund.

Oh sorry, did not mean to make you clarify even further. I read your comment and the last sentence had a deadpan delivery in my head that really cracked me up in the moment.

Completely agree with your suggestion. Personally would definitely prefer a replacement rather than refund.

I observed that in a unit I got as an RMA for the case cracking issue. I can confirm, almost certainly a mainboard warranty is in order, as the behavior was consistent across two displays.

resolved. it was a bad mainboard on arrival.
