i can try to answer the compatibility questions but the international memory constraints are above my paygrade
but as a consumer, I simply hope that more LPCAMM2 modules will be available in the market.
There is at least a claim from a relatively credible source that it is improved. But I am not sure if that needs to be in combination with the new lid or the antenna itself would already help.
Same here. I suppose it may actually be semi fortunate that normal ram also exploded in price, otherwise lpcamm would have looked even more expensive in comparison.
they are lumped together because they work together. bottom cover + speaker + battery modules are not mix and match between old and new generations, you need to upgrade all of them together.
working on a new content to bring more transparency to compatibility situation ![]()
From the video where they switch the 11th gen to the new ultra 3, Nirav made it sound as if the new wifi card was required for the ultra 3 mainboard, but that physically the cards were the same. It was just the pinout (or the firmware) that was different on the Intel side. So, if you have a previous generation mainboard, you use the wifi card that shipped with the mainboard.
In the testing and in the announcement they claimed over 20h of 4k Netflix playback. If the efficiency figures hold true, we could be easily getting double digit increases in battery life over the 8h (advertised) of the previous generation.
I believe each mainboard is tested (and verified) with a certain wifi card. I donāt think we have tested the wifi card we have shipped with 11th gen wifi card with the Ultra Series 3 mainboard. They are probably not compatible even though itās the same slot. itās not just a slot issue but also the drivers.
No that was just that the speciffic card that comes with the new board isnāt compatible with any of the other boards (cause it a proprietary intel one instead of pcie).
Yes, that was my understanding as well. I think itās the same situation as with the previous generations of Intel Wi-Fi modules (e.g. AX210 vs AX211): the last digit in BE211 is 1, which means that it doesnāt actually include some radio hardware and, instead, uses that hardware in the CPU. Therefore, it requires a compatible motherboard+CPU. But the physical port is standard, and a standard (i.e. non-Intel-proprietary) radio will work there as well.
In other words, the new motherboard is required for the new wifi card, but a regular wifi card will work with the new motherboard. (Not sure about other Intel-proprietary ones though.)
In the upgrade video @nrp explicitly says that you can use AX201 with the new motherboard.
Putting forward my vote for french canadian layout with the orange and grey colour scheme. Iāll still get the kit with the US keyboard.
AX201 and Ultra Series 3 mainboard combo may or may not work. It might be functional. However itās not verified or certified by us. but if you want to test using that, feel free to do so! Iām sure other community members would like to know that as well.
Just that there isnāt a be210 out jet, so you can only get the new cards in cnvio. Probably getting one when it comes out just to see if it crashes my amd board too or if they fixed it XD
How many LPCAMM2 modules does the new processor board hold?
There is space for one module only.
Sad, thatās a bummer - whatās up with that?
I have a gen 1 framework 13-inch laptop.
I want to upgrade just my battery as I have recently bought a few new other parts. How can I do this in the most sustainable way possible by buying as least parts as possible?
For example, can I just buy Framework Laptop 13 Pro Battery - 74Wh and the Framework Laptop 13 Pro Bottom Cover Kit? Or would I need the whole chassis kit?
Also, will my current charger that I bought 2 months ago work with the new bigger battery or do I need the Power Adapter - 100W?
I use the laptop mostly for emails, research, writing, a bit of light ai nothing to fancy and the odd PDF edit on adobe pro.
I am really bummed that the touch screen canāt use a stylus that was one of the key things I wanted on my 13 as I am not going to buy a new laptop just for that, but I could justify a screen upgrade once. If you make the touch screen compatible with a stylus (even if it is a pro version) I will upgrade the screen too.
You will need the Bottom Cover Upgrade Kit, not the whole chassis.
ok cool, so I will get Framework Laptop 13 Pro Bottom Cover Kit & the Framework Laptop 13 Pro Battery - 74Wh.
Just confirming I donāt NEED the Power Adapter - 100W? I am guessing that it will just charge slower?
60W adapter is also compatible with Pro, 100W adapter is not required to charge the pro battery.
again, just to clarify, you will need the bottom cover upgrade kit, which comes with:
⢠Framework Laptop 13 Pro Bottom Cover Kit ⢠Framework Laptop 13 Pro Speaker Kit ⢠Framework Laptop 13 Pro Audio Board Kit ⢠Framework Laptop 13 Pro Input Cover Frame ⢠Framework Laptop 13 Pro Keyboard (Language and color options available) ⢠Framework Laptop 13 Pro Battery - 74Wh ⢠Fastener Kit - Input Cover and Keyboard |

ahhh that is where I was getting confused
thanks for that
