The photo above that comes from the shop looks very odd to me.
It would be great if there was an additional picture with the key map in addition to the photo of the keyboard as that would make it more obvious if one can live with it or not. At the first glance the keyboard on the picture looks alright, but I think I’d rather have blank or some other ISO like the portugese usb thinkpad keyboard I’m currently typing on than this.
Welcome to the forum.
Something to keep in mind is that it’s the keyboard layout set in your OS, windows or Linux, that actually determines how the keys work. Many keyboards are actually identical except for the writing that’s printed on the keycaps. I mean, the same keyboard, the same wiring, same codes sent to your OS, just the keycaps are different. If this wasn’t so, a blank keyboard wouldn’t be possible. And switching layouts in your OS could be a mess.
So getting one keyboard over another, comes down to exclusively if you like the writing that’s printed on the keycaps.
Now of course I’m only talking about physically identical keyboards. USA keyboards have different shaped keys and are a little different, same for Japanese keyboards which have extra keys squeezed in.
This is about shape of the buttons mainly. Look at the strange tiny enter key and strange one piece, yet what it seems dual action left shift.
It’s about physical manifestation of this keyboard layout.
I mainly want to know if this czech/slovak weird layout is some official layout much like ISO or ANSI, someone’s creative endeavour or … AI generated picture of a czech keyboard.
Framework 16 seems to have a normal czech ISOish layout.
I even stated I’d rather go with blank or some other ISO layout. I use portugese keyboard that has same shape keyboard as czech.
That is odd. Not sure why they diverged from IOS with the enter key.
It’s certainly not an AI generated picture, though, if that and actual thought. All FW pictures I’ve seen have been real, and it wouldn’t fit them either.
While that is still a little better than what asus and consumer hp are doing to their “iso” layouts I still hope this one is a misunderstanding and framework has a complete ios or ansi layout.
Thanks! You’re right, the AI Ryzens do have pictures keyboards, 7040s don’t.
As I was looking at that weird czech keyboard and it’s dawned on me - it’s ANSI physical layout with strangely applied czech labels.
