Cutting the back of the case to make space for oculink port

Has anyone tried installing the minisforum EOP4A with redriver chip pcie card to hook up a gpu with the deg1 from minisforum. and how did they go about cutting out a small rectangle to you have acces to the oculink port. that mainly my question. i should i go about cutting into the case. i dont want to f*ck it up …

Yes I have.

@Jason_Sharrad yeah I found your post. I am only a little confused cause when I installed the card. I thought my cut out would be the yellow square marked in the photo but is totally in a different position from you so I am still figuring that part out

I understand the situation you are in, as it was exactly what i felt when i tried to make my first pilot hole.
What I ended up doing is taking the PSU out, placing the PCI card next to the PCI slot to get the right distance from bottom edge of case to center to Oculink port. then then another line from center of pci slot to side case the intersection should be inside the Oculink port.

The hole needed to be oversized because when I tried try to insert the PCI card in the physical Oculink port blocks hits the case before entering the hole you just made.

In the end i figured that the back of the case don’t matter very much as the front it was matters.

@Jason_Sharrad i can just remove the psu without any problem? i mean i dont have to dissemble the whole thing

Well I didn’t remove my PSU when i was drilling the pilot holes or when using the Dremel. All i did was over the PSU vents with some tape to prevent metal from going places where it should not go.

When you are finished with everything blow out the entire frame and from all directions at well.
