I’m trying to use the display port adapter to connect to an external monitor using one of the 3 video out compatible ports. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to want to connect consistently. I’ve gotten it to work once, and the monitor will wake as if it’s receiving a signal but then the video feed will never start. HDMI works without an issue. Has anyone had this problem?
I’m on Arch Linux with KDE Plasma 6 (wayland).
Update: I stumbled across another identical display port cable, and it appears the cable I was using might simply be bad. I’m going to give it some more testing.
I have just received a framework-laptop-16 with the base processor, no dgpu, and the display-port and HDMI extension ports… so hoping to connect to an external monitor. The documents say they should work on ports 1,2, 4, and 5. They work fine with my monito on 1, and 2, but not 4 or 5.
installed ubuntu 24.04, it is running latest hwe kernel.
when I plug into the laptop the messages in /var/log/kern.log are identical except bus numbers.

The above are the kern.log adaptors when inserted in right and left sides successively. Neither with a cable connected.
When I do connect a cable, the second one (usb5-1, on the left hand side, negotiates successfully. and I get an extended display on my 4K external screen.)
If I do the same into a the same extension card plugged on the right hand side of the laptop, I get a blank screen.
Display out on the Framework Laptop 16 is supported on expansion card slots 1, 2 and 4. There is no support for display on the right side, middle expansion card slot (5).
