DVT2 phase and beyond

This, I guess, is a question for the Framework team @Destroya

In the latest blog, Nirav noted that the desktop was in the DVT2 phase. So, a couple of questions:

  1. When is that phase scheduled to conclude, and
  2. What phases are beyond DVT2?

This is primarily a user forum, so while the Framework team may chime in, it is unlikely. Framework generally doesn’t release information about product development outside of blog posts. If they were ready to release this information, they would have put it in the post you linked.

Phases after DVT2 depend on any issues found during DVT2. It could go to DVT3, or it could go to pre-MP. It depends.

About a year ago, when the SD Card Expansion Card was in development, Framework published this video describing the “Framework Product Development Process”. According to it, “every single product that we release, from laptops to expansion cards to power adapters, goes through this process.” It seems to be a very broad overview.

I’m curious, for the Desktop, what’s involved in concluding DVT and how long PVT might take before MP (which I assume is mass production). Likewise, like many, I’m really curious about performance and when in the dev cycle more information might be forthcoming from Framework?
