Enable AVX

I have searched all over to find out how to enter the BIOS menu on the Framework 16/ AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics 3.80 GHz.

I need to enable AVX in order to use features in audio editing software. If I missed a thread in my research that addresses the issue please be gentle in dragging me for it.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Bill

For the AMD FW13 you can spam the F2 key during the early boot to get into the firmware. I’d assume the AMD FW16 is the same.

I don’t think there is any setting for AVX. Your app should just work. Maybe ask the maker of the app for help?
My guess is that maybe the app does not recognise the cpu currectly, so maybe check you have the latest version of the app.

Indeed; AVX is supported on these processors.

For a comparable, here is the 7840U (Laptop 13) in CPU-Z:

The software you are using is likely to be either incorrectly determining instruction set support or telling you the wrong thing to look for.

When using AudioDirector 365 I am unable to use the Noise Reduction tool as I get the error message “The affect cannot be applied on your computer. Try installing the latest Windows update and check if your system supports the AVX instruction set.” Back in October everything was working fine. I’ve not been editing A/V stuff lately because I’ve had so much writing to do and now that I am back to the A/V side of things I have this infernal AVX issue.

I have a support ticket in with Cyberlink AudioDirector 365’s team as well.

Anyone have some insight on this?

I just updated the bios today to version 3.05 and jsut to be on the safe side I reinstalled all my OEM Framework drivers. (We all know how obnoxios Windows can be about stealth-replacing drivers).

If you’re totally up to date on the processor you’re on, this is entirely on Cyberlink’s side.

The best thing we can do is wait.

So the issue with Cyberlink Powerdirector/ Audiodirector 365 not recognizing AVX on the AMD Ryzen 7840HS processor has been solved. It was indeed not the processor.

Cyberlink had me delete the AI tools folder and then restart the program and run the noise reduction feature which in turn initiated a reinstall of the components necessary for Cyberlink to run its AVX dependent tools.

FYI for any who experience the same issue here is the email from the Cyberlink support team.

"Hi Bill,

Thank you for contacting CyberLink Technical Support.

We understand that you are unable to use vocal remover and noise reduction. We are more than willing to assist you.

With reference to your query, after pilot checking, we are not able to reproduce the same condition in our lab on testing platforms.

AudioDirector 365 applied Vocal Remover and Noise Reduction to multiple and different clips normally.

The root cause of the condition is unknown, and it could possibly be related to certain software/hardware compatibility, or unknown abnormal system configuration on certain platforms.

For troubleshooting purpose, we advised you to delete the “15” folder in the following path:
C:ProgramDataCyberLinkAIModelAudioDirector
C:ProgramDataCyberLinkCLFileDLerAudioDirector

Note:
The ProgramData folder is hidden on Windows by default. To enter these folders, you have to show the hidden folders in Windows File Explorer by Microsoft instructions in advance:

After deleted, launch AudioDirector, apply Vocal remover and Noise Reduction to re-download the AI component, and check the condition.

If condition remains the same, we advised you to follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the following folder:
    C:Users{USERNAME}AppDataLocalCyberLinkAudioDirectorlive_15.0

  2. Open “config.ini” file with Notepad.

  3. Check if the “is_support_avx” option is set to TRUE. If it is FALSE, please modify it to “is_support_avx = True”.

  4. Launch AudioDirector to check your concern again

Note:
The AppData folder is hidden on Windows by default. To enter these folders, user has to show the hidden folders in Windows File Explorer by Microsoft instructions in advance:

The {USERNAME} is your account name, which applied to sign in Windows desktop.

If the “is_support_avx” option is already set to TRUE or the condition persists after the configuration, we also want to ask if the condition occurs on certain audio clip only or it also occurs on the sample audio. If the condition occurs on certain video only, please help to gather PPM from user for further investigation.

And please follow the steps below to gather the program log:

  1. Browse the folder:
    C:Program FilesCyberLinkAudioDirector15

  2. Launch “CLTrackerV2.exe” by administrator

  3. Click “OK”

  4. Send the “CyberLinkLog.zip” file back

Please feel free to contact us back for further clarification or assistance related to CyberLink products. Use the link below to get back to us:
