I do not know whether there is any information pertaining to this issue so please forgive me. I have bounced around various links in this site, each pointing to the other, and cannot find any post that reports a problem quite like this one.

My expansion cards have ceased to be recognised in the Framework Laptop. It started with the USB Expansion SDD disappearing from the system, so I took it out and plugged it into the USB C socket on my PC and it works fine there. I ran chkdsk and disk manager on it, and it works perfectly. For a couple of days, it worked if I plugged into the USB A expansion card on the Framework, via a couple of adaptors.

Today, it is not recognised in any socket on the Framework. Neither is the SD explansion card. That one also works on the PC. I think all my expansion cards have become unrecognised on the Framework, but they all work on other hardware, even my Android phone. Therefore, I suspect a hardware problem in the Framework.

Maybe it is drivers? I update all the drivers just before this problem began to manifest. Is there a way of isolating the source of problem, please?

Best wishes

Will

It might be driver-related. Another possibility is a hardware glitch.

I can’t help with the drivers, but for hardware glitches, this little trick often fixes the issue.

Wow, that was amazing. Thank you, my laptop now sees the expansion cards and everything is working again! I would never have figured this out, so thank you.

 :man_dancing: Glad I could help!
