External monitor is not detected on Ubuntu 22.04 fresh install

I have just installed Ubuntu 22.04 on a Framework AMD laptop. I am attempting to plug in the HDMI cable into the HDMI card on the machine, but there is no reaction at all. The external monitor does not show up in xrandr. The HDMI card is detected by lsusb, also when I move it to a different port. Originally, I installed windows 11 on the machine, and the external monitor worked, so the HDMI card is clearly functional.

Please help!

22.04 is ancient - please try a more current distro (fedora39 and 40 both are supported well) 24.04 also works, but even that ships with a relatively old kernel in comparison to fedora39 and 40

also you can not use the left front port (with laptop open facing you) for any sort of display output.
