I had an issue with my external monitors connected through a docking station after system update. I would like to mention that before update this was working perfect.
After bios update only display ports in the docking station stop working, the other ports in docking station like ethernet, power source, audio, usb, usbc, etc are working as expected.
My laptop is showing following code in the left side on startup only when i connect my docking station:
W GGGG-GGGG-GGGG O GBGB-BGGG
as per this documentation(My Framework Laptop (Intel 12th Gen Intel® Core™) is not powering on), the Gx12 means that everything is ok but the code after Orange is a binary code where G=0 and B=1, so, the hex code is 0x58. I found in this forum the following documentation:
#define DXE_VTD_INIT 0x58 // VTD Initial
But i don´t have idea what this code means…
As a workaround, i’m still using my docking station and i bought a hdmi expansion card, but i would like to attach monitors to docking station and use only one wire for everithing.
I would really appreaciate your support… thanks in advance.
Update: I tried with the right side ports attaching usb-c adapters there and now docking station is working fine with all my peripherals attached included charging and 2 monitors.
I’ll try to open laptop and try to figure it out if there is a problem with main board or IC.
There is an obvious problem with this laptop (13, 12 gen) connecting to external monitors, via a docking station or direct.
My docking station (Display link, Alogic Twin Doc HD Pro) is visible to laptop. Delivers power. But the HDMI connection to the monitor is ‘inactive’. And after some playing around putting it direct into a RH side HDMI port it eventually worked, but the display settings were insufficient to get the right aspect.
Its just so painful. And the wired internet connection does not work either. Either direct or via the docking station.
Luckily the wifi works.
Am seriously regretting getting this stupid laptop. The manky old HP windows laptop it replaced works seamlessly with peripherals, but with this Framework everything is a tedious contest.
Is the Framework team capable of fixing these things, or providing simplel easy to follow guides for how to fix it?
I tried upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04 (Mint 22.1) via the onboard updater and not only had to abort the process but needed the timeshift back up to get back to before I tried that process.
Painful. So painful. I am wasting so much tie trying to make work basic things that should just work out of the box as advertised.
