USB-C powered dock works (keyboard and mouse through it) but monitors plugged into the dock no longer do.
No reaction for a DisplayPort monitor plugged in to a direct port.
Even a USB-C portable monitor has no reaction when plugged in.
On NixOS/KDE, and not sure how to even identify if a software issue (that’d nice but unlikely) or a hardware issue (what i fear) or a firmware issue (if so, it is the latest updates that broke it). (Framework Support has not responded yet.)
Background:
The right-hand ports never worked for data. The back right port used to work for power but no longer does.
Then a much more serious and potentially related problem, the laptop screen turned off entirely for a half hour or so, then came back for a few minutes, then turned off entirely for a couple hours, then back for a few minutes, and one more time and now it has simply stayed off (as i continued to work on the other two monitors connected to it).
The computer going to sleep, closing the lid, etc did not fixed it. (I had not yet tried restarting.)
Then when i came back from 40 minutes away all three monitors stayed off, and no amount of pressing keys or plugging and unplugging and closing the lid could bring them back.
I unplugged everything, held down the power button to force a shutdown, and when i booted up the laptop screen worked, and i installed firmware updates with fwupdmgr update
, and restarted again. It went to BIOS 3.05 (EFI Shell update) from 3.03 i believe (definitely skipped one, maybe i was 3.02.
Laptop screen continues to work fine, but no external monitor gets a flicker of recognition.
So is there any general advice for fixing connections or is this a problem where some parts need replacing?
Or can i roll back firmware?
Was four days with a three-screen setup flying too close to the sun?
