External USB hard drive not showing up

Hey I am new to the framework community and I am loving the laptop but one major issue im setting out to fix: whenever I plug in my 1 TB external drive (not issued by framework) IT NEVER SHOWS UP!

I have tried:

-Swapping usb a extensions

-Reformatting drive

-Putting usb drive in slowly

(Mind you I am running windows 11 and all of the drivers are up to date. Along with current windows version you could get.)

And mind you, it shows up in the device manager. Just for some reason it doesnt show up in files app.

I am begging for someone to help.

If you can format it (presumably in Disk Management), does that also mean you can manually mount a partition in Disk Management? What happens when you assign a drive letter to it? It would be good to know whether it’s just the OS not mounting it. It might start working (i.e. mounting automatically in the future) after you assign a different drive letter to it.

Maybe a screenshot of how it appears in disk management would help.
