I reached out to support but haven’t heard back in about a week so i’m reaching to the community here which i’ve learned so much from over the years. I have a Framework 13 11th gen and in the course of attempting the cmos battery fix, the capacitor on 17.6v rail above pl331 marking broke. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the part number i need to purchase to replace this? I’ve tried reading the schematics on the github here but unfortunately i can’t seem to figure it out.
Thank you to anyone who can help me and anyone in the future who may have this issue!
Something’s definitely broken, this is the logical place to start. There must have been some kind of residual charge in the board when I was doing the cmos rtc battery fix because it sparked when the wire from the installation kit touched to the capacitor. I measured the capacitor seen here as 0.1mV with power connected.
If either of those two capacitors failed shorted, or are shorted out by some stray solder, it could be causing an issue. With the machine off and the battery disconnected, you could check for a short across those capacitors. If either of them test shorted, you could temporarily remove them, power up the machine and see if the voltage on that rail comes back.
