I am constantly having a BSOD with this specific error:Critical process died" (0xEF)
This issue is new and started on 21 October. The following is a screenshot from perfmon.
I have uninstalled drivers, run clean up utilities, ram checks, ssd checks, amd clean up utility. And a whole bunch of Claude AI troubleshooting. But this issue still persists.
My laptop basically BSODs between a few minutes or a few hours between each BSOD.
I recently encountered the exact same issue on a framework 16. The BSOD “critical process died” became more an more frequent until it was unusable because it would often die right after rebooting.
After a lot of troubleshooting, I managed to fix it by reinstalling windows from scratch on a new SSD. All checks of the previous SSD came clean, so maybe reinstalling on the same SSD would have worked, but switching the SSD made it easier to transfer data. I’m guessing some file somehow became corrupted.
The root cause may not be the same for you, but if you have a spare SSD, switching to it might be worth trying.
I had the same problems, I think this is due to the AMD chipset driver…
This always happened to me when I installed the drivers using AMD’s “Auto-Detect & Install Tool”.
After that I had no problems upgrading to the current public AMD graphics drivers. But only install the graphics drivers and do not use AMD’s “Auto-Detect & Install Tool”.
