Is that new Framework Laptop 13 Pro screen only 100% sRGB? Would have loved to see it 100% DCI-P3 as someone who is getting into photography
Iâm going to sound like a grognard, but if youâre âgetting intoâ photography, you donât even need full SRGB coverage yet, let alone DCI.
You will sleep better once you realise that of 10 people looking at your photos, three are using crappy TN screens, two are on their phones with turbo vivid profiles, four have turned on the orange night filter and never turned it off, and the last person is you with your 1000% accurate display ![]()
I do get that, and I am well aware of it. The thing though is that if youâre going to say youâre trying to make the âLinux MacBook Proâ, itâs fair to question your shortcomings compared to the thing youâre calling yourself. The MacBook Pro has had DCI-P3 displays since 2016, so this is an area theyâre falling short of what they say theyâre trying to do ![]()
You might have got a different answer if you asked that to begin with and not that you âneedâ it for getting into photography.
I do hope they fixed the pixel response time which was an issue with the previous screens though. Colors were for my eyes already good enough on the matte original screen (as long as you didnât turn on the amd deep-fry my screen power-saving mode).
Didnât say I needed it, I said I would have liked to see it ![]()
Iâm one of those nerds who appreciates an accurate display. It would be cool to get a 100% DCI display. Framework said they decided to stick with 100%sRGB and push for maximum efficiency instead. I can see their reasoning. There are probably trade-offs in terms of price to performance/features when they were specâing out the display. I do appreciate that the displays will have per-panel calibration. So the color accuracy should at least be good within the sRGB limitations.
