Framework 13 USB-C module no longer charges or transmits data

This is partially a case report, as I know the solution (get a new USB-C module). Posting in case this information turns out to be useful.

I began having issues with my USB-C charger: the back-left USB-C port no longer could be used for charging. (/sys/class/power_supply/ACAD/online is 0) and usb devices do not seem to be recognized (no entries in dmesg). Swapping another module into the same port seems to have fixed the issue, meaning the issue is in the USB-C module. Spraying with compressed air did not work, and I see no visible obstruction in the connector. The back-left port was my primary port for charging.

I am not sure what the cause of this is, but I did recently purchase and begin using an Anker 317 Macbook Pro charger (100W). On the off chance this did damage my module (e.g. if other reports have been seen of this) I would definitely want to know!

Yes, both the charging and data transmission problems follow.

The USB-C module is a passive connector, so it is in simpler terms an extension cable for the USB C port on the mainboard. You should test all the connectors all the mainboard without the USB C module to make sure that all the connectors are okay.

If you are still in warranty, you can probably request for a replacement module to be sent to you for free. Otherwise, you could take it apart and check for any damage, although it likely is already broken and you will need to get a replacement.

I agree with Elliot. If the warranty is still available, Iā€™d request a replacement.

I bought used, so I doubt itā€™s under warranty. Thanks anyway though, I ended up buying a new module.
