Hello, I have quite an odd issue with the Framework 16 on boot. To preface this, I already reached out to support and after providing them all the information they asked for, they said they had no idea what the problem is and to go buy a new main board since i’m out of warranty. So I figured posting here was worth a try.
As for the issue itself, the laptop fails to start. Upon pressing the power button, the fans spin up momentarily, the light comes on, and then it just shuts off several seconds later. The part that is odd though is that I discovered holding down SW3 during boot sometimes gets the laptop to start up successfully. It is still quite rare, maybe 1/10 attempts. Once the laptop boots though, it works perfectly normally. Only issue is that the trackpad is not detected and I have to restart the device in windows with an external mouse to get it to function.
As part of the debug process with support, I did test the ram thoroughly. They had me photograph all of the ram sticks and slots, and try every combination of ram in the device. It made no difference at all, and once the laptop was up and running all of the ram is detected and works just fine. Hopefully someone has an idea of what could cause an issue like this. I’d rather not spend money on a new mainboard, plus I’m personally quite curious what would cause this type of failure in the first place.
