Framework 16 keyboard spill cover

There’s an old discussion like this for the 13 but doesn’t look like a solutions have been found. I’m really looking for a spill protection cover for the keyboard and really entire top that covers the edges and seems of the input plates. I know covering the track pad would degrade the experience but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. Even if I have to try and make something, anyone have suggestions for a material that could be fairly easily fitted and cut but be flexible enough to type? I don’t think we have CAD files for the 16 yet so might be a while before there’s a custom solution.

My gut response is to say a silicone cover across the entire device + overedges, that’s been waterproof adhered onto the trackpad contact surface, might work. It wouldn’t be modular, and would only work for a specific combination of input modules + trackpad location. It would also cover the topside air intake vents.

Because of all the ‘cracks’ around the keyboard, numpad and touchpad with spacers, it would be difficult to do a spill protection cover, without producing one for every possible combination of positions for these items.

Personally if you feel you need spill protection, go in the kitchen and get some cling film. That could then be folded around the outside of the case (being careful not to block the air holes) after working it around all the keys so the tension of the film isn’t restricting the key movement. As a film it should be thin enough that it wouldn’t change the sensitivity of the touch pad.

Could also cut a rectangle out and hotglue the hole to the trackpad.

You may also be able to spray the interior of the device with one of those water proofing hydrophobic products. I’ve seen people use them successfully on other electronics, but the risk would be your own.
