Framework 16 Primary SSD screw stuck

Hi all,

Just received my Framework 16 and was absolutely thrilled to get it setup. Everything went smooth up until I reached the “Installing primary SSD” part of the installation process.

The screw which needs to be loosened is completely stuck (not spinning like others have mentioned). I already contacted support but I wanted to see if anyone else had this issue and maybe resolved it.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve seen posts where this has happen to FW16 buyers.
It also happened with my FW16.
I used a bladed screwdriver to lever up the screw while undoing the screw with the FW screwdriver.
What is sufficient lever up force??? Dunno, I just started gently and continued to apply enough force for the screw to rise out (as others have said in their posts).
Speculation by owners with this problem is that the screw thread was damaged when the laptop was factory assembled.
I replaced the (possibly) damaged screw, (or the thread of the retaining nut may be stripped??), as best the screw would and relied on the other parts of the laptop to hold the SSD down and connected.
I haven’t contacted Support about what has happened with this situation, or if I need a replacement screw. (I should though, I’m eager to know what they do for you).
My FW16 works okay, despite my workaround.
Cheers
