Hi all, I’m new to Linux but have been using/administering/supporting Windows for years. I’ve got Fedora 43 running on an old desktop so I’m aware of what should happen, but with this new laptop I’ve not even been able to get to the point of being able to run the Live disc to partition and install.
I’m running Fedora-KDE–Desktop-Live-43-1.16.x86_64.iso from a USB that I’ve set up with Ventoy. Ventoy appears to work correctly and I can boot it and choose a distribution to install. When trying to start Fedora Live it sits there for a while and then goes to an error message which reads as follows:
[2.337100] dracut-cmdline[652]: //lib/dracut/hooks/cmdline/29-parse-livenet.sh: line 6: get_url_handler: command not found
Warning: /dev/root does not exist
Warning: /dev/ventoy does not exist

Type “journalctl” to view system logs.
You might want to save “/run/initramfs/rdsosreport.txt” to a USB stick or /boot after mounting them and attach it to a bug report.
Press Enter for system maintenance (or press Control-D to continue):
I’ve had a look around and there seems to be some suggestions that I need to update the Linux kernel as the laptop is so new the hardware is unsupported. No idea how true that is.
When trying the installer for archlinux-2025.12.01-x86_64.iso it just cuts to black and goes straight back to the Ventoy boot menu within a couple of seconds.
I’m using a brand new Framework 16 (AI 9 HX 370, RX 7700S) that was delivered this morning and assembled without issue.
Can anyone give me any pointers? If you’re going to ask me to check things you may need to explain how I need to do it as I’ve next to no experience with Linux or how to use terminal properly.
Many thanks in anticipation of your reply.
