Framework 16 won't charge, side LED blinking orange

Hi all,

My Framework 16 (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, BIOS v3.04) has been working great, but today I plugged it in and it isn’t charging, and the side LED is blinking orange. The laptop still powers on and otherwise functions normally. I’ve tried rebooting (first step always lol), using different usb c ports on the laptop, plugging it directly into the usb c port on the laptop (not using an expansion card), all to no avail. My charger is not one from framework, it’s a 65W charger I already had for my work laptop, but unfortunately I don’t have another high wattage usb c charger to try with it. But this charger has been working fine for several weeks since I got the laptop, so I’m not sure what would have changed. Any ideas what may be going on with it? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried charging your phone (or any other device) with that specific charger? Just to rule out if it’s the charger or the laptop.

Update to this: I took off the midplate just to make sure the battery cables were all still connected properly, didn’t change anything at all, put the midplate back on and then it started charging again. Odd bug but hopefully just a fluke
