Framework 16 wont post then error in diagnostic?

Hello, I built my new Framework 16 today and have had trouble getting anything beyond the power button to light up. A bit out of my depth, leaving it to go research (not tech savy), it got slightly warm. I don’t hear fans or get a sense of anything else.

After reseating the RAM just in case, I eventually fond out about the side LEDs. They took over 1m 22s to start, more than the 20s advertised on the help page. After, 12 successful green blinks, then, expecting 8 flashes for the post code section, I get, 16?

Is that right? I cant find any helpful documentation really. Does anyone know what that means or what I should try next?

You will not get any display until the RAM is working.
So, best to remove everything else, SSD, Wifi card, USB devices etc.
Which FW 16 module do you have? The RAM compatibility tables are different for each.
Which RAM make/model do you have?

The RAM needs to do something called “training” the first time it is installed, and this can take 15 minutes.

Once you get the RAM working, and get a display, you can then start plugging in the SSD etc.
For testing, you can plug an external usb keyboard in. It saves you needing put everything back together each time.

Unfortunately, there is not much documentation on the blinks.
The first 12 seem to have some explanation, but the subsequent blinks are undocumented.

Note: You mainly just get other users, like me, responding here. If you want official FW support, you need to raise a support request on their support web page.

Its looking more and more like a RAM compatibility issue. I bought the ram before the official compatibility tables came out for the FW 16 Ryzen ai-300 series. At the time, I hadn’t seen that people had issues with the 16gb modules of Kingston Fury in the 13 inch too.

I have ordered 2x16gb of Crucial memory as a replacement, though only 48 and 64gb are validated? Hopefully things go smoothly.

Thanks for the help, you’ve saved me hours of head scratching.

Yes, you seem to have found out why i was asking for specifics. There are threads on this forum that suggest the crucial ram, that you have now choosen, will probably cure your problems.
