To minimize the trauma on my non-techy wife (read: not obsessed with tech products) I waited until I sold my existing desktop before ordering a Framework. Shipped it out a couple days ago and the ordered the Max 385. Slightly regretting that approach now.

Waiting for tech to arrive is equal parts thrilling and unbearable. I think this will be the longest such wait I’ve had to endure. Although, it rivals waiting for the Ham radio antenna I ordered as a teenager in the late 70s, when you “sent off” for such things and just waited in the blind for a truck to appear in your driveway.

The same thing happened to me. I can’t wait for it to ship.

I’ve got a project where I have all the bits stashed in the corner :face_with_peeking_eye:, I just need the mainboard to finish it. It’s going to be worth the wait!

Instead of selling it I will turn my current PC (that has an RTX 3070) into a gaming console using Bazzite, since my wife has been missing her PS4  Hopefully this will help minimize her trauma once she asks how much I shelled out for my replacement PC :face_with_peeking_eye:

Hi there, just ordered mine. 13 is a good number, right? Right?

Anyway does anybody knows how long it will take to reach our batch, even approx?

This reddit post gives dates for the beginning of shipment of each batch so far. The average time between batches is 5 days (discarding the initial time interval as an outlier). On this assumption, batch 13 would start shipping about 40 days after batch 5 started, which equates to around mid-October.

Several assumptions involved here, of course. But I think that’s a good ballpark estimate.

A silver lining to having to purchase via a pre-order queue: I placed my order Aug 21 and landed in the Batch 13 queue. Over the past 14 days, I’ve had a growing sense of buyers’ remorse, and today it reached the point that I could no longer ignore it. And since pre-orders are fully refundable while in the queue, there was no harm done.

So the remorse was over buying the Max 385 instead of the Max+ 395. So I upgraded my order to the Max+ 395 - 128 GB, and I feel much better.

I’m still in Batch 13, though presumably I moved from the beginning to the end of the batch queue. But this does seem to suggest that the pre-order queue is stabilizing, either from cooling demand, increased production tempo, or both.

Thanks for the info! When I saw Q4 I was expecting december, so anything before is a good news!

Framework has sent shipping emails for two and three batches, respectively, the last two weeks. This week, they’re sending emails for batches 10 and 11. So it seems likely that batches 12 and 13 will get their emails next week.

I think we’re the last batch. I can’t find any Batch Guild topics > 13. So I guess they’re close to moving out of the pre-order stage?

I’m in Batch 14, which is the last one one mentioned in the list on the order page, so almost, yeah

My guess is they are working around the clock to get all the Batches done now, so they can start serving Christmas orders. And for a small company, to be able to fill the orders this fast is a sign of doing well. Go Framework! (and looking forward to mine sooner now!)

I have decided to cancel the order and go with Ryzen 9 9950X and RX 9070XT build.

I will be rooting for the success of this Ryzen AI PRO MAX APU. Go Team Red

I’m actually kind of considering doing this as well: 9950X + 9070XT + 128GB RAM, in a larger but still ITX case.

PSA: the handle can now be added to the order

I’ve just gotten my “We’re preparing your batch!“ email for a 64GB desktop. Christmas is early this year!

Oooo I’m still waiting for my preparation email.

Based on my interpretation of their last e-mail update,

[…] pre-orders for Framework Laptop 12 and Framework Desktop (Max 385 - 32GB and Max+ 395 - 64GB configurations) are wrapping up […] We’re about halfway through pre-orders for the Framework Desktop Max+ 395 - 128GB configuration, and we’re continuing to move quickly to process and ship each of those as well.

the preparation of the 128GB versions lag behind the 32 and 64 ones somewhat. So those with the former might need to wait a bit more I guess :face_exhaling:
