Framework Desktop Batch 7 Guild

Quite a few are stuck there, including several batch 8s.

Hope you guys have it up and running soon.

I have mine installed and running. setup a new development environment with Fedora, podman, buildah and cursor. really smooth assembly and install.

A few times I got worried because the steps in the guide are ridiculously simple and I took 5 steps at once because it was very natural.
Step 1 find screws
Step 2 Twist screws
Step 3 Twist screws until they are out
etc

But now it is running, and the fan is not very noticable (has been a concern for many)

Finally had some extra time to tinker with my Desktop. Got Bazzite with KDE installed and LM Studio loaded with few models which also are now integrated with Zed and VSCode(with the Continue extension).

Havent really looked into the AI performance yet, just tested that the local models (gpt-oss-20b and qwen3-coder-30b) work and respond.

Might still switch to Gnome little later but will see. Need to also test some gaming stuff

Interestly i had one of my first major linux bugs this weekend.

Tried Fedora, had intermittent MAX VOLUME buzzing audio*, far louder than is normally possible…

No idea whats up there, i’ll stick with windows a few more weeks and hope it gets fixed

(*system volume at 50%, The buzzing was at 100%, if not louder)

Strange, I had Fedora installed for a short while, a few weeks ago, and not encountered any buzzing. Could there be an issue with the combination of Fedora with your audio system or speakers?

What I did have were weird graphics errors, at least in the command line, where randomly thin gaps appeared between text lines (empty or not), just one pixel wide, where the background shined through. Just one or so at a time. Maybe anyother terminal similuator would have resolved that, maybe it was something with the desktop environment itself. I don’t have that issue with openSUSE Tumbleweed however.

Ah! Fedex added a delivery date of Wednesday, then my package got stuck in customs clearance in Sydney, so of course they’ve removed the date. I’m really hoping it gets moving soon so I can get it this week.

The only thing i can think of was the audio being passed through displayport to my monitor.

Might try directly attaching the speakers next time

Just got mine delivered. Everything looks to be in good shape.

You’re in Sydney or is the freight using Sydney as a hub? I’m in Bris

I’m in Melbourne, my framework is in Sydney. Well Matraville specifically. Still hasn’t cleared this morning. :sad_but_relieved_face:

Finally came today. In process of setting up bazzite now. So excited

So, that’s about two weeks from when your batch was notified to today? That’s quite slow, isn’t it?

Here’s hoping it moves soon. Enjoy it when it arrives. I’ll be keen to hear your experiences as you set it up

Yeah it went Taiwan → Philippines → China → Singapore → Sydney, so it’s been on quite the journey.

Wow. It’s a seasoned international traveller :joy:

Any USA bound B7s still stuck in Memphis? Several B8s are still stuck there. Supposedly cleared customs last Wednesday. Yet, B10/11 have been delivered in the US already.

My B7 is still stuck in Memphis. Status changed signifying it was released from import hold last Thursday but it hasn’t moved since. It’s now been stuck longer after release from customs than during the import hold…

My B7 has been stuck in Memphis since 9/23 and is still suck there. Like @mjmaley, the status was updated with ā€œInternational shipment release - Importā€ on Thursday 9/25, with no change since then.

I just want to use my new AI machine. :sob::sob:

It looks like there are a bunch of shipments from B7 and B8 that are stuck in Memphis. Mine is there, too. Same status.

Mine arrived yesterday afternoon. Already have Fedora 42 on it and its working fine. Have tested it with Steam, and next up will be trying to test some AI workloads on it.

I found that VENTOY (with disabling the secureboot!) made installations MUCH easier. Many of the ISOS didn’t seem to boot when used natively.
