Framework16 Non-RGB Keyboard Backlight - Burned out?

I’m using Gentoo linux, and using the QMK tool provided by GitHub - FrameworkComputer/qmk_hid: Commandline tool for interacting with QMK devices over HID

I have also used the keyboard.frame.work web tool, but I am suspicious of it working because I see it gives me the lighting options for the rgb keyboard backlights…

I have tried resetting the eeprom, and also reseating the keyboard, rebooting, and closing then opening the laptop lid to no success.

I suspect that my LED may be burned out. When I query the brightness with the qmk_hid it reports the brightness as 33% or 0% when I toggle it with the Fn+Space hotkey. When I set the brightness to 100% it also does not show the backlight.

Is there a way to software test the LED itself? I thought the qmk_hid program would be the closest thing to that.

Is there a warranty process for the keyboards? This may be my first hardware failure with the framework.

My kernel version is 6.6.32 (gentoo-dist configuration)

That’s normal / just the way Via, the GUI interface at keyboard.frame.work, is. It does not adapt the keys shown based on the ablities of the connected keyboard.

Sounds like you’ve done pretty much all that you can.

The LEDs shouldn’t have burned out, the circuit should be current limited even at max. But there could be some other hardware fault.

Should be the same as for any other component.
