journalctl logs show nothing labtop just hard powers off as if you flipped the psu switch on a desktop.

so i am running my frame work 16 in a 3d printed case to get around my schools no “labtop” rule and thusly it has no battery and the device often force powers off when under load i’ve only gotten this to happen in 2 scenarios, slicing or looking at the sliced preview in orca slicer or when playing street fighter 6. i have the labtop plugged on usb port 3 to the 240w psu that came with the labtop, i am also using a usb thunderbolt dock that can give 65w of power but i always make sure to have this unplugged on boot to make sure the labtop uses the 240w power supply, i can also unplug this usb dock while the computer is running and i get no issues.

Is there any way to fix this, this is also particularly annoying as there is a 20% chance after one of these happen that orca slicer thinks it should go threw oobe and dosen’t show any of my projects unless i manually open them.

Where you having the same issue on an earlier kernel?, I would strongly recommend to replicate on 6.18 to exclude kernel issues.

yes i was having the same issue on 6.19

Are you running on the latest firmware?, if you are did you have the same problem before upgrading?

i am running the latest firmware and i was having the same issue when i was using 3.04

new and exciting issue, now it dosen’t power on any more and is flasing red and blue lights. this is usposed to mean a ram issue but removeing all ram, only using 1 stick, removing both ssds and wfi card still causes it to show the red and blue leds.

also the only working usb c port is the on on the gpu the 6 on the main board no longer work

Take a video of the flashing red and blue lights. Post a URL to it here.
The flashing lights can mean a number of things.

i will uploaded a video but the red blue lights flash at a contestant pattern red for a second blue for a second.

Ah! Well I have never heard of that pattern before.
I suggest you raise a support request with FW via their web page form.

i’m already going threw support but they are just having me do the same 5 steps.

here is the video

Hi,

What is it you have there?
My FW16 does not look like that or switch on like that.

framewor 16 main board and gpu in 3d printed case GitHub - FrameworkComputer/Framework-Laptop-16: Documentation around the Mainboard and other key parts of Framework Laptop 16 · GitHub. been banned from all computers at my school, easier to hide it like this

Sorry to hear you are having problems, but this comment made me wonder.

Why is it banned in your school?!

I love that you are hiding it in plain sight though! You already learned a valuable lesson

school is afraid of technology and sees every device i touch as a “network security issue”

I don’t remember where*, but since last time I was here I read that the FW 16, with the gpu, can use more power then the psu can deliver. I believe you might be experience a safety cut off.

*I believe it was a forum thread about someones mod they made to theirs.

edit: All the modifications I've made to my FW 16 (so far)
