any recommendations for a cheap stylus i can use while waiting for the real deal to come in?
Define ācheap.ā Lol. Is there a maximum you want to spend?
Depends on what you mean by cheap.
If youāre looking to spend anything less than $50 then youāll find everything is kinda lackluster.
For a good quality USI stylus, Iād go with Penoval
For a good quality MPP stylus that isnāt the $100 Microsoft Slim Pen Iād go with The Lenovo precision pen 2
For whatever reason, the precision pen is like 30 dollars extra in the US.
Anything below the $50 is gonna probably be hit or miss on line quality from what iāve seen, but mostly bad.
Hope this helps!
i think the definition of ācheapā is something thatās usable while i wait for the actual stylus to come in q3. it doesnāt need to be amazing per se.
of course its hard to peg a specific price point because framework hasnāt published pricing for the stylus, iām guessing frameworkās is gonna be 50-70 dollars, so the lower the better
i remember seeing these mentioned here and there, and i ultimately decided that itās ultimately a choice between them or frameworkās, and i think itās obvious what i want to go with. :3
iām not sure what you mean by bad, because from my perspective bad could either mean clunky but ususable or just trash.
so i think what i want is something thatll work for just a month or 2, is fine for basic handwriting and maybe not amazing for digital art, if that makes sense.
No idea if itās good and canāt guarantee it would work, lol, but hereās a pen that says it supports USI 2.0. Currently on sale for $34.
I think by that standard pretty much anything would be fine.
My suggestions were from the point of view of an illustrator so those are pretty good for illustration for MPP/USI pens.
for sure, and obviously my end goal is something for illustration, which hopefully frameworkās is good for
Yeah me too, Iād love a stylus from framework thatās on par with the slim pen.
They say its still in development so fingers crossed.
iād say thatās my biggest complaint/critique with this launch, i feel like they shouldāve waited until the stylus was ready to start shipping orders, or have some way to include one in your pre order
i do recognize that this was probably a case of no one could be happy, because im sure theres loads of people who wouldāve grumbled about having to wait for a stylus they werenāt gonna use
To me, the stylus is the most important selling point. A two in one touch screen laptop is neat without a stylus, but desktop apps arenāt generally designed with touch in mind. A touch screen amounts to a quality of life feature without a stylus.
In my opinion, the use for a convertible laptop is desktop apps that need a stylus. Which is why so many people are interested in the 12 for art. The only reason I preordered was so I could use Krita without being tethered to my desk. I can do everything else just fine on my FW13. I canāt draw directly on my 13 though.
At least they let you use other pens, but I do agree.
