I decided to go for aluminum USB-C cards to match with the others, and I’m hoping they will look nice with the plastic shell. I would have definitely liked to see photos with mismatched cards as all the promotional media I’ve seen has had only color-matched USB-C cards. overall I’m quite excited!
edit: realized I don’t care that much and went with lavender instead for the USB-C
Thanks for starting a Batch 6 Guild thread! I’m also in batch 6 and went black/grey with aluminum expansion cards.
It would be nice to see photos with mismatch but there are so many color combinations I get why they didn’t do it. However, given that some expansion cards only come in aluminum I do think one promo picture with aluminum expansion cards would make sense. For me, I’m going all aluminum expansion just so I could swap with my framework13.
This will also be my first Framework and I went for gray/white with gray cards. Was always interested in Framework but already had a Surface Pro 9 that worked fine so didn’t bother. Only I eventually wanted to put Linux on it, and it turns out it has some pretty big hardware incompatibilities (no one has been able to get the camera working on Linux). Turned out Framework had just announced the 12 which checks every box for me, so I’m not losing anything by switching! Very excited.
It’s kinda hard to guess since we don’t know how many are in a single batch, but it seems reasonable that batches 1-3 ship in mid-July and batches 4-6 ship late July.
I moved from Batch 1 (ships June) to Batch 6 (ships July) because after seeing some more pictures that I decided that I actually prefer the grey model over the black one. At the time, Batch 6 was the last batch that ships in July. Batch 7 was scheduled for Q3.
Seeing as they are not shipping/processing in weekends (probably due to logistic limitations and not a big company), and the current speed, I think you are right. It’s specially true if you have a fancy color, which is even further behind.
A bit of transparency of which batch is currently getting charges/preparation/shipping emails officially from FW would be nice… but it’s probably too much to ask.
I bought the NVMe, because I can test if that is working properly without the computer, but I’m holding for the RAM, I don’t want my 30 day return window to run out and have to RMA the thing.
I’m in batch 2 sage and have received the preparing batch email, hopefully they will take my money in the next few days. I would not be at all surprised if batch 6 happens in the middle of August.
Hi!
Batch 6, grey here.
My order still says “shipping in July”.
On the other hand, I didn’t get any E-Mail so far.
Let’s hope for the best!
(To be honest, I didn’t order any SSD or RAM so far. We only have a 14-days period where you can send stuff back…)
