Actually they are likely to overlap somewhat, depending on the mix of options ordered in each batch. About the only thing you can expect is that the initial shipment in a batch will occur no earlier than an initial shipment in a previous batch, and that a following batch will ship no earlier than the initial shipment of your batch.
The FL16 shipments sometimes had up to 4 batches overlapping shipping at the height of production. I seem to remember the FL13 AMD doing similar. The batch announcements were coming approximately every week, with shipping for a batch being spread over 3-4 weeks.

I think it’s sort of silly how many people are harping on the FW12 for the hardware. Like, we knew going in that it isn’t going to be pushing AAA games lol. I plan on just using mine for light productivity since I travel so much for work.
That said, hoping us Batch 8ers will get our hardware sometime in August! That seems like a reasonable time frame

For real. I got mine because I need something to write essays and draw on when I’m not at my own personal desk with the PC I built for gaming and video editing.

Considering I still have a Thinkpad X61 I pull out for fun on occasion, pretty sure the 12 will both scratch the tiny laptop itch and blow the old Thinkpad out of the water lol. I agree for basic browsing and office tasks it’ll be more than enough.
I have a Batch 8 preorder after waffling for a time. Not in any rush, kind of hoping the stylus becomes available for purchase before my order ships so I can add it to my order, but if not it’ll give me time to review and compare options.

I think a lot of people forget just how powerful processors are now. 4+ghz on multi-core cpu’s are just likely to have the raw output to easily handle video encoding, web browsing, and usually at least one other task reasonably well. We are looking at a difference in gaming, rendering, compiling, heavy computational environments where you know your needs. General users likely can get away with much less than we “tech nerds” like to say. I still have my mom on an i5 from several years back pushing 3.4ghz or so. She runs a small business’s website, communicators, email, design, ect, all from that one device because it has the power a general user needs and all her files and apps are cloud based.

The last part just reminded me I have a “computer” with 12 gigs of RAM and 128 gigs of storage in the palm of my hand… Well, fingers, anyway.

Ordered a FW12 for my spouse. or, she ordered it, using my account 
And that was a week ago or so, yesterday her 2.6 year old laptop said goodbye. too early, cause no FW yet. (she may borrow my FW13 to write her book at home).
reading about what happend in Taiwan, I hope all FW employees and fam are safe and the power outages have little to no impact to their business and lifes. (and yeah, to the roll out of our laptops. but we can wait a bit)

hi, im another fw12 batch 8 user
can anyone speculate if batch 8 will be delivered by mid-August or so? I noticed that on the FW Desktop order page they say the first batch will ship in “early Q3” which means August, but they don’t use that wording on the FW12’s page and skip directly from July to just “Q3”.

Batch 0 just got emails for the colourful laptops, maybe Batch 1 soon, but they’ll ship a week or two later.
